Goals: Live life to the fullest and be a hustler

Everyone wants to travel. Everyone wants to go around different countries in Europe and have the time of their lives. However, not many people know how to do it or the best way to plan for it. I have been to 14 countries and +20 cities in Europe, traveling in airplanes, buses, ferries, trains, cars and staying in hotels, hostels, couchsurfing, airbnb’s, with relatives/friends or in public parks. Now I am gonna shared how you can plan your Eurotrip as well.

  • Buy your ticket at least 3 months in advance. Most people spend too much time thinking or waiting for tickets to be really cheap and they never buy them until they realize the date is approaching and tickets are getting expensive, so they end up not going. Usually the difference between buying a ticket 6–3 months in advance is not much, however, if you buy it 2–1 month in advance the price will be much higher. Especially if you are getting the tickets with miles, you should buy it as soon as you can. I have been able to travel to Europe from Colombia and the US for a very low price because i bought tickets with miles 3 months in advance. I will discuss more about getting flights with miles in another Article!
  • Book only the first 3 days of hostels. If you are staying with friends, relatives or couchsurfing you don’t need to worry about where to sleep. Otherwise, you should just book your first 3 days or max one week of hostels/AirBnBs. Why? Because during the first days you will probably meet people or hear about other awesome places you do not know and will want to go there. It will also give you a crazier adventure to remember! I did exactly that, and it was awesome. Only planned the first days in Ibiza, and then went with the flow. We were booking the hostels pretty much the night before arriving to a new city. This also gives you more flexibility in case you fall in love with a city or somebody and want to stay longer in a certain place. In contrast to flights or hotels, the price for booking hostels/AirBnBs the night before is not that different as it you book one month in advance. The only unusual thing that can happen is that there is a special event in the city and all hostels are full. This happened to us in Stockholm, since there was a big medical convention when we arrived and we did not have any idea. We walked around the city with our backpacks and did not find any place to stay. So we slept in the benches in public parks and took naps in MacDonald’s which may seem too much for some people, but these are the experiences you never forget, trust me. Bonus tip: If you do not have much money or do not want to pay for a place to sleep, just book your bus or flights to other cities at night and sleep while you travel. We used this trick a lot to save money, and if we could not check in to the hostel because it was very early when we arrived, we used to leave our backpacks in the hostel and explore the city or take a nap at Macdonald’s in the mean time.
  • Do not plan anything else. If you are thinking on flying or taking trains internally in Europe, you could buy those in advance, but usually they are not expensive if you buy them the day before. I was in Prague with my friends, and decided last minute that our next city was Amsterdam, we found tickets for 60 Euros in Easyjet. Most hostels have maps and can tell you the best places to go, so you do not really have to do much research before. You may spend hours and hours planning but almost certainly once you get there you will see other things that you want to do, you will get recommendations from locals, you will want to explore other places, so that’s why you should be flexible with your schedule, and just live the moments. If you are afraid of not having a place to sleep, well is part of the adventure and is always great to live new experiences. Plus you can always party until 6am :P
